Returns & Refunds
Returns & refunds
The short version
BESTB4 does not offer change-of-mind refunds on food, drink or household products. We do honour the rights you have under Irish consumer law — namely, that if your order arrives damaged, spoiled in transit, missing items, or significantly different from what you ordered, we will refund or replace it.
What we will refund or replace (statutory)
You are entitled to a refund or replacement (your choice) where:
- Items arrive damaged or broken
- Items arrive spoiled or contaminated in transit
- Items are missing from the order
- The wrong items were sent
- Items are significantly different from how they were described on the product page
Contact us within 48 hours of delivery at shop@bestb4.ie with your order number and a photo where relevant. We respond within 1 business day.
What we don't refund
For food-safety and hygiene reasons, and consistent with standard practice across Irish food retail, we do not accept:
- Change-of-mind returns on sealed food, drink or household products
- Returns of opened food or drink
- Returns of personal-care items once unsealed
- Returns simply because the best-before date is close — every product page shows the BBD upfront before purchase
This is consistent with Statutory Instrument 484/2013 (transposing the EU Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU), which excludes sealed food items and goods that may deteriorate rapidly from standard 14-day cooling-off rights.
Past-BBD stock
Items that are past their best-before date at the time of purchase are clearly flagged on the product page and product card. By purchasing a flagged past-BBD item, you accept that the product is sold on that basis. We recommend checking any past-BBD product before consuming — see Understanding Best-Before Dates.
